My Inspiration

When I was in high school, I read the book, Walk Across America by Peter Jenkins.  His stories about meeting interesting and helpful people on the way caught my fancy.  It appealed to the part of me that rebelled against the commonly accepted direction for a girl's life at that time.  It appealed to my hunger to learn, explore and experience the world.

My dad once said that he and I shared a 'hobo heart'.  His hopes to explore the entire world never faded.  I know he'd approve of the adventure I've chosen.  He would want to join me, I'm sure.

A friend is joining me! Margaret Campbell also lives in California and will meet me in Riverside on May 28th.  We will leave on the 29th. Both of us are working on the best route.  At this point, it will be a modified southern route through AZ, NM, and TX, then along the Gulf coast.  Let me know if you are along the way so we can visit you, if possible.

  1. If Albuquerque is on your path, you and Margaret are welcome to drop in, have dinner, and a place to spend the night. I am so excited for you and your adventure!

  2. Glad you and have a friend to join you and the cats along the journey. Don't have a place to visit along the way, but of course you are welcome to our house once you meet your destination!

  4. I'm not along the way, but we vacation a lot in Pensacola Beach, Fl and it is a wonderful place to stop. At Ft.Pickens, on the end of the island, there is a camp ground for tents and RV's, you should definitely check it out.
