Obviously I'll need computer internet on-the-go for this trip. My research has shown that it might be beneficial to stay with my current provider, AT&T. The Mobile Broadband Review rates AT&T second after Verizon Wireless. There are quite a few holes in AT&T coverage along my possible route. What do my techie friends think about the best choice for use with my MacBook Pro?
Also, for uploading photos, there are several options: Picasa Web Album, Photobucket, or Flickr. I tend to favor Flickr because I especially enjoy their connection with Taggalaxy. The Photo Sharing Services Review gives the number one position to Photobucket with Flickr in second place. Picasa is not even listed. I've read the information and would love to hear my respected colleagues' reviews on their favorites.
Thanks for your feedback!!!

You know its funny I was on flickr today and I was not a fan. I find photobucket to be consistent and user friendly, but this begs the questions why not just use facebook? This is the best way for everyone to see your photos without having to go somewhere else. One stop shopping!
ReplyDeleteMike,
ReplyDeleteI see your point. However, I was hoping to add a slideshow to the blog. Perhaps a link to my Facebook pictures would work, but readers have to be my 'friends' to see them. I'm thinking of possibly a broader audience :)
You may be able to get by without having to purchase mobile internet. If you frequent starbucks anyway, click here and you can map out your trip with every single starbucks with wifi along your trip. At the beginning, get a giftcard for yourself and put some money on it. You have to use it every 30 days to get internet. It is only supposed to be for 2 hours a day, but mine has never been cut off after 2 hours. Another thing you could check into is tethering if you have an iPhone. Or my aunt recently got a broadband jump drive from Verizon and it works great. Just throwing out some thoughts.
ReplyDeleteAs far as pictures go, I prefer picasa. Here is the whole shabang of pictures from my travels on picasa. I just find it easier to manage than the others, not really sure why. Also, it works with blogger very well since they are both google.
Last but not least, I am in Louisville, Ky if you need a driveway and I am graduating in Aug. too :)
Starbucks is the way to go!
ReplyDeleteI like Picasa- it works great.
